Zay Jones' post-Jaguars tour continues.
The former Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver made his third visit since being released last week. According to Bleacher Report's Jordan Schultz, Jones' next stop will be the Dallas Cowboys.
Jones has already visited the Tennessee Titans and Arizona Cardinals in recent days, but signing Tyler Boyd this week appears to have closed the Titans' door.
Jones would make sense for a Cowboys team that moved on from Michael Gallup for several reasons. For example, Jones is from Dallas, and his father, Robert Jones, won three Super Bowls with the Cowboys after being selected in the first round of the 1992 NFL Draft.
Jones was injured in Week 2 of 2023 and was held back for most of the season, with Jones dealing with two different periods of absence. Jones played in nine games for the Jaguars last season, catching 34 passes for 321 yards and two touchdowns.
Over the past two seasons combined, Jones ranks third on the team in yards targeted (185) and receiving yards (1,144), tied for third in catches (113) and tied for fourth in touchdown catches (7). . He also ranks fourth in receiving yards per game at 45.8.
Jones signed a three-year, $24 million contract with the Jaguars in 2022 with $14 million guaranteed.
The Jaguars will carry Jones' dead cap hit of $6,569,334 and save $4,183,294.
If Jones is designated for reduction after June 1, he would have a dead cap burden of $3,017,334 in 2024, saving him $7,735,294 annually.
Jones will be replaced in the starting lineup by No. 23 overall pick Brian Thomas Jr., the Jaguars' first wide receiver drafted in the first round in more than a decade.
