The Oklahoma City Thunder, the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference, won Game 1 at home thanks to MVP runner-up Shai Gilgeous-Alexander's 29 points, 9 assists, and 9 rebounds. Mavs star Luka Doncic struggled, making just one of his eight 3-pointers on the night.
With the loss in Game 1, the Mavericks are now 0-5 in Game 1 games under coach Jason Kidd. Doncic and Irving's group will be looking to repeat what they did in their Game 2 win over the Clippers after a lackluster opening-day performance.
