All local men's teams have been eliminated from the NCAA Tournament, but many players are still representing Dallas-Fort Worth as March Madness enters the Sweet 16.
On the men's side, St. Mark's Harrison Ingram scored 17 points (including 5 of 7 3-pointers) in North Carolina's second-round game against Michigan State after falling behind in the first-round game against Wagner. . And on the women's side, Irving MacArthur's potential WNBA prospect Sarah Andrews helped Baylor reach the Sweet 16.
Here are the top Dallas area high school boys and girls basketball stars who are still making moves in March.
Rylan Griffen, Alabama
class: 2nd grade
position: guard
high school: richardson
Griffen entered the tournament averaging 11.0 points (fourth on the team) and shooting 37.7 percent from 3-point range. He was a four-star recruit at Richardson University, rated his second-best shooting guard in the nation in the 2022 class, and his fifth-best player in the entire state of Texas. it was done. He helped Richardson reach the Class 6A state semifinals as a junior. During his high school career, he averaged 20.6 points and finished his high school career with over 2,000 points.
Harrison Ingram, North Carolina

He was named third-team All-ACC, leading the team in steals (47) and second in rebounds. Three of his highest scoring games were against the nation's top teams: against Duke he had 21 points, against UW he had 20 points and against Tennessee he had 20 points.
Ingram is a five-star recruit out of St. Mark's University, rated as the second-best player in the state of Texas in the 2021 class and was named a McDonald's All-American as a senior. He played the past two seasons at Stanford University, where he was named Pac-12 Rookie of the Year and averaged 10.5 points, 6.2 rebounds and 3.4 assists.
KJ Lewis, Arizona

high school: El Paso Chapin, Duncanville
Entering the tournament, Lewis ranked third in steals on the West Division's second-seeded team, averaging 6.3 points and 3.2 rebounds. He was named honorable mention to his Pac-12 all-freshman team. He scored a season-high 18 points against UCLA and 14 points against California.
Lewis played his senior year at Duncanville, averaging 16 points and nine rebounds and helping the team to a 29-1 record and No. 2 national ranking last season. Duncanville opted to participate in the playoffs to avoid possible further penalties after the UIL stripped the school of its 2022 state title for using an ineligible player.
Sarah Andrews, Baylor
class: Senior
position: guard
high school: Irving MacArthur
For the remainder of his season in Waco, Andrews will continue to play a key role in Baylor's success, starting all 31 games this year. She averaged 3.9 assists and 2.4 rebounds and was the team's second leading scorer with 11.1 points per game. Andrews was named to the conference's second team this season, earning All-Big 12 honors for the third time in her career.
According to ESPN's HoopGurlz, Andrews has proven to be worthy of the hype he received in high school as the state's No. 1 recruit in the 2020 class and the nation's No. 7 player. As a senior at Irving MacArthur, she averaged 14.4 points, 6.4 rebounds and 6.0 assists per game.
Taylor Jones, Texas
class: Senior
position: forward
high school: dallas christian
Jones developed into one of the key starters on Texas' Big 12 Championship roster this season. She entered the tournament ranking third on the team with 14 points per game and averaging a team-high 7.2 rebounds. Jones earned All-Big 12 honors in her outstanding senior season.
In high school, Jones was a two-time TAPPS state champion at Dallas Christian University and was a five-star player ranked No. 42 nationally in his class, according to ESPN. She scored over 2,000 career points and recorded a double-double in every game her senior season. She started her college career at Oregon State and transferred to Texas before last season.
Something else worth noting
Chase Ross, Market: The sophomore guard is averaging 6.3 points and 3.1 rebounds and has scored in double figures nine times entering the tournament. That includes 12 points against Kansas, Texas and Providence. Ross played at Plano West and finished high school at Cushing Academy in Massachusetts.
Amina Muhammad, Texas: The former DeSoto star started 20 games and averaged 6.4 points and 4.5 rebounds for the nation's No. 5 team as a sophomore. She led DeSoto to back-to-back state titles in 2021 and 2022.
Juliana Ramendra, Indiana: The region's Player of the Year and the 2023 Gatorade Women's Basketball State Player of the Year, played in 27 games at Indiana and scored 50 points in her freshman season. Ramendra led Coppell to its first state tournament in school history last year.
