The vinyl window manufacturer recently closed its Carrollton factory, impacting about 260 employees. Some people were fired, and about half were transferred to the Dallas location.
Houston-based Westlake Royal Building Products USA Inc. closed its facility at 1813 Kelly Boulevard, part of the BeltLine Business Center, on May 4. As many as 125 affected workers were offered similar positions at the company's nearby facilities. 3950 Bastille Road near West Dallas.
Employees were notified of the plant closure on March 4, according to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act notice filed with the Texas Labor Commission. Workers at the Carrollton facility contributed to the “Legacy” collection of “durable and energy-efficient” windows for homeowners, general contractors and architects. The company produced his three styles of windows overall, including Legacy, Crestmark, and Magnolia.

A company spokesperson said the decision to close the plant was not taken lightly and was necessary due to “significant investments made to optimize efficiency and performance across the network.”
After closing its Carrollton plant, Westlake Royal Building Products now operates a total of three window manufacturing plants, including those in Dallas, Houston, and Baldwin, Georgia.
The company says it makes “high-quality, low-maintenance products” that meet the needs of building professionals, homeowners, architects, engineers and dealers. In addition to windows and window systems, Westlake Royal also offers siding, trim, moldings, roofing solutions, and decking.
