North Texans could rejoice in a few days of no rain this week. However, the possibility of storms returns Wednesday night.
Like Tuesday, Dallas-Fort Worth will have a sunny and warm day on Wednesday, with highs in the 90s, the National Weather Service said.
The storm will arrive by night, bringing more wet weather to the area. The storm could continue overnight into Thursday, bringing severe weather and the threat of flooding.
Wednesday's storms will likely be isolated and dispersed, while Thursday's storms will be more widespread.
Thursday's storm will bring significant amounts of rain, with average precipitation ranging from 0.5 inch to 3 inches by Friday morning, according to the weather service. More than 4 inches of rain could fall in some areas south of Interstate 20, putting them at the greatest risk of flash flooding.
The storm may linger into Friday, but could clear into a sunny weekend.
This spring flooded northern Texas.
April has been wetter than average, with 3.17 inches of rain already falling in the Dallas-Fort Worth area in May.
As of Tuesday, 2024 was the region's wettest year to begin the year, with 20.44 inches of precipitation measured at DFW International Airport. Typical accumulation through May 14 was almost 14 inches.
