Eric Johnson Central Library One of the largest buildings in America, located in downtown Dallas, was built in 1982 across the street from the building. dallas city hall, and many agree it may need an overhaul. That includes, among other things, library staff and consultants brought in to prepare a report on the future of the building, among other investments needed for the city's library system.
According to Mitchell Parton of the Dallas Business Journal, projects proposed for Dallas' 2024 municipal bond program include “$43.5 million for library facilities, but not the central library.” . Library officials are seeking funding from the city to transform the downtown location with features such as an outdoor plaza, more connected floors, interactive features and a more appealing overall appearance.
