An arrest has been made in connection with a shooting at a party on Collins Avenue in Dallas on Saturday that left a 21-year-old woman dead and eight others injured.
Christopher Jones, 28, was arrested by Dallas police on charges of manslaughter and possession of methamphetamine, according to an arrest report.
A preliminary investigation revealed that Jones fired a gun into the air during the shooting, according to a Dallas police report.
The shooting occurred on Saturday, April 13, after police had already received a report of a shooting on Collins Street.
Dallas Police Chief Eddie Garcia has announced an internal investigation to determine whether officers could have handled the call situation differently after a shooting left eight people injured and a woman killed. He said it had started.
Dallas police first responded to the call about a shooting at a party in the 4500 block of Collins Avenue around 11:10 p.m.
Spokeswoman Christine Lowman said a preliminary investigation revealed a large party had moved into the street and the shooting stopped when police arrived.
Lowman said police nearby heard gunshots around 1:35 a.m.
Seven women and two men were hit in the shooting, and all were taken to local hospitals by Dallas Fire Rescue and private vehicles, the report said.
Corisha Bradford, 21, died at the hospital. Eight other adults suffered injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening.
