Sales of single-family homes in San Diego County continued to increase in April, along with prices and inventory, the Greater San Diego Association of Realtors reported Monday.
The existing single-family home market in April grew by more than 5% compared to March and nearly 6% compared to April 2023.
However, sales of condominiums and townhouses fell 2% from the previous month and about 1% from a year ago.
The median price of a single-family home in April rose nearly 5% compared to March, reaching $1.1 million. This is a 16% increase compared to April 2023.
The median price for condos and townhomes reached $685,000, up about 2% month-over-month and 7% year-over-year.
Due to rising prices, the inventory of homes for sale has increased dramatically and is nearly 50% higher than last year at this time.
“Our association is excited about the year-over-year increase in single-family home sales compared to 2023,” said SDAR President Spencer Lugash. “As always, we believe there is a strong desire to live in San Diego County. The increase in home sales and the high sales prices of these homes both demonstrate that demand.”
The San Diego County ZIP codes with the most single-family home sales in April are:
- 92028 (Fallbrook) 50 pieces
- 9064 (Poway) with 39
- 92009 (Carlsbad SE) and 92057 (Oceanside North), both 32
- 92026 (Oceanside East) and 92021 (El Cajon), both 30
- 29026 (Escondido North) and 92040 (Lakeside), both 26
The most expensive single-family property sold in San Diego County last month was Fox Hill Estates, one of San Diego's largest and most historic properties. Set on 30 acres in La Jolla, this gated property features a 17,000-square-foot home, eight-car garage, and a putting green.
The mansion, built in 1959 by the late San Diego Union-Tribune publisher James Copley, sold on April 30 for $35 million.
