LUDHIANA: The Saravanagar police on Sunday filed an FIR against Jaswant Singh, a real estate agent of Aryan Enclave, Tareeke village, and five unidentified persons for assaulting Raj Kumar Malhotra (45), a real estate agent of Balbir Enclave, on Chuharpur Road. According to the FIR, the complainant, Malhotra, who has his office in Rajguru Nagar, was returning home on his scooter after a day’s work when he was stopped near a railway crossing by five unidentified men who attacked him with sharp weapons and a baseball bat. One of the accused was also caught on video. After the beating, the accused allegedly called Jaswant and told him that the work was done. Malhotra said he had no rivalry with Jaswant and did not know why he had hired goons to attack him. The accused have been booked under sections 325 (punishment for intentionally causing grievous hurt), 323 (intentionally causing hurt), 341 (wrongful restraint), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 120B (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code.
