Former President Donald Trump is returning to Dallas on Wednesday for a campaign fundraiser, just days after speaking at the National Rifle Association convention at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center.
Proceeds from the fundraiser will go to Trump’s campaign, the Republican National Committee and 41 state Republican parties, but not to any Republican parties in Texas, according to seven people familiar with the event.
The 16 hosts include Dallas businessman Ray Washburn and his wife, Heather, who served as president and CEO of the Overseas Private Investment Corporation from 2017 to 2019 under the Trump administration and also served on the President’s Intelligence Advisory Council under Trump.
Other hosts include Dallas businessman Kenny Trout and his wife, Lisa, who owns 2018 Triple Crown winner Justify, and Dallas businesswoman Kelcy Warren, who has hosted Trump events in the past.
The other host was Doug Deason, a Dallas investor and Republican donor who supported Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’ presidential primary campaign last year.
According to the invitation I received, Dallas Morning NewsCouples in the “Trump 47” are being asked to donate up to $844,600. The next level of co-chairs will have to donate $250,000 each. “Attendees” can join for $100,000.
Trump has visited Texas multiple times before and after taking office, and last year he kicked off his 2024 campaign in Waco.
On Saturday, he told NRA representatives that he plans to move to the Lone Star State one day.
“I want to move to Texas, I want to retire in Texas,” Trump said.
