According to reports, the suspect was detained after a homeowner saw him standing behind his horse and making “shoving motions.”
A Rio Grande Valley man has been arrested again after he was caught having sex with a horse.
Authorities detained 54-year-old Cirilo Castillo in the South Texas town of Edinburg earlier this month after he was accused of having sex with a horse, according to MyRGV. Castillo was later charged with bestiality and two counts of trespassing, the news site reported.
His bail is set at $50,000.
Police were called on the morning of June 11 after a woman complained that one of her horses had been assaulted by a man, MyRGV reported.
“She observed Cirillo standing on a chair having intercourse with her white mare,” according to an arrest affidavit cited by the news outlet. “She observed Cirillo pull down his red shorts and stand behind the mare making thrusting movements.”
However, this is not the first time police have arrested Castillo for allegedly riding a horse improperly.
In 2013, Hidalgo County Sheriff Lupe Trevino warned residents that Castillo was a concern for his neighbors after he pleaded guilty to mistreating a horse named India.
“He’s going to continue to do this,” Trevino told a Valley-area NBC News affiliate at the time. “The neighbors have had enough. We need to do something about this.”
According to a recent report from MyRGV, Castillo has since been charged with having sex with horses on four additional occasions.
Prior to last week’s incident, Castillo was arrested in 2022 after a local homeowner captured him on surveillance camera fumbling with his pants behind a pregnant horse, according to the news site.
