LIV Golfer Bryson DeChambeau is putting his old home on the Dallas luxury real estate market, with the 2020 U.S. Open winner putting his $3 million Melcher Estates estate up for sale.
The five-bedroom, six-bathroom home sits on a 0.4-acre lot and is 5,339 square feet. Built in 2018 and purchased by DeChambeau the same year, the home was once filled with golf memorabilia and numerous awards from the professional golfer. He has won eight times on the PGA Tour, played in the Masters Tournament eight times, and won the Arnold Palmer Invitational in 2021.
Melshire Estates is located in North Dallas near Forest Lane and the North Dallas Tollway.
DeChambeau moved in earlier this year. The home went on the market last week and has had several buyers, said Jessica Smorton, a real estate agent with Rogers Healy & Associates.
The home also comes with plenty of entertainment features, including a pool table, a media room with an HD golf simulator and two flat-screen TVs that DeChambeau “thoughtfully” left behind, according to the listing from Rogers Healy & Associates.
The patio features a pool, fire pit, built-in grill and outdoor fireplace, the home also features a water filtration system, indoor fireplace and wet bar.
DeChambeau added many of the home’s backyard amenities, including a pool and a custom pergola and fire pit. Smorton said the house is fully wired for a TV and entertainment system.
“He spent a lot of time there spending time with friends and family,” Smorton said.
In 2022, DeChambeau posted a tour of the house on YouTube, calling the residence a “fun house.” At the time he lived there, he had a slackline strung between two trees in the backyard and a home gym in the garage.
Some gym equipment remains in the three-car garage, along with mirrors and floor pads, Smorton said, and there’s even a dog shower in the garage that DeChambeau uses for his dog, Bear.
The first floor features an open layout with an owner’s suite, guest bedroom and chef’s kitchen, featuring updated cabinetry, granite countertops and a large island, while the second floor features three bedroom suites, each with their own private bathroom and walk-in closet.
Jessica Smotherman’s husband, Austin Smotherman, is also a professional golfer and a close friend of DeChambeau.
“We love that house,” Jessica Smorton said. “We spent a lot of time in that house and I know he loves that house too. He won his first major championship while we lived in that house, so we have a lot of really fond memories celebrating and spending holidays with family and friends in that house.”
In a YouTube video, DeChambeau said he’s earned the mansion thanks to his wins at the U.S. Open, the Arnold Palmer Trophy and other tour events. He has earned more than $30 million in official prize money on the PGA Tour, according to the PGA. He played in this year’s PGA Championship over the weekend, where he finished second and earned nearly $2 million.
In 2022, DeChambeau left the PGA Tour for LIV Golf, a club backed by the Saudi Arabian royal family. His four-and-a-half-year contract with LIV Golf is reportedly worth $125 million.
During the 2022 home tour, DeChambeau also mentioned that “Version 2 of the DeChambeau Mansion” is under construction. According to Jessica Smorton, DeChambeau has been building new homes in the Dallas-Fort Worth area over the past few years.
“It’s a beautiful home,” Jessica Smorman said of their new home. “He’s very patient and very dedicated to the build.”
