Envision Dallas received a $1 million donation from Dallas residents Larry and Susan Kimbler. This donation will be used to renovate a new facility to meet the needs of more than 150,000 North Texans facing vision loss and a lack of available services.
Larry Kimbler is a former president of the American Foundation for the Blind and a member of the Envision Board of Directors.
Envision is one of the largest service providers and employers for the visually impaired in Texas. Envision Dallas said its purpose is to provide life-changing opportunities to people who are often overlooked.
“I'm excited to be a part of Envision Dallas' growth,” Larry Kimbler said in a statement. “The need for employment opportunities and services is great in the North Texas region. Envision Dallas is committed to improving the lives of people who are blind or have low vision.”
The Kimblers' gift will help meet a $2 million Mabee Foundation Challenge grant that Envision Dallas recently received.
Relocated and expanded Farmers Branch
Envision Dallas' $15 million capital campaign initiative will establish a new, state-of-the-art center in Farmers Branch that will increase manufacturing and knowledge-based employment opportunities and provide the key to independent living for people with vision loss. We are focused on facilitating access to resources.
Envision Dallas' new building will house the Larry Kimbler and Susie Kimbler BVI Leadership Center.
“Larry and Susie's gift is a great testament to the heart they have for the blind and visually impaired,” Envision Dallas Managing Director David Stupei said in a statement. Ta. “Larry has dedicated much of his life to advancing the work that provides opportunities and advances for people. His appointment to our Board of Directors will make him an integral part of our future. I feel very honored.”
Envision Dallas' campaign, “Envision the Possibilities,” is dedicated to relocating current Dallas operations to a new 210,000 square foot campus in Farmers Branch. The new campus will nearly double its current size and allow Envision Dallas to expand its employment, education and rehabilitation services.
