Each year, Inc. Magazine celebrates companies that aim to not only make a profit, but also make a positive impact on their communities and the world around them. The 2023 Inc. Best of Business list recognizes 215 companies doing just that, eight of which are right here in North Texas.
“From giving back to their communities to transforming industries to making the world a better place, these inspiring companies are proving that business can work. and Do good,” Inc. writes. “We have assembled a diverse collection of influential organizations to cover B2B companies along with brands that have disrupted consumer choice.”
Below are the North Texas companies that made this year's list, joining other inspiring brands that Inc. believes “belong on a pedestal.”
Eyeful Media :: Dallas
Eyeful Media is the only Texas company on Inc.'s list in the General Excellence category. It also won honors in the advertising category. Founded in 2016, this performance-driven digital marketing agency helps his mid-market B2C and B2B companies scale and assists investment companies with purchasing decisions. Inc. recognized Eyeful for its impact on community development.
Mobate :: Plano
Movate, which received this honor in the IT Services category, is a digital technology and customer experience services company that provides human-centered, technology-driven solutions and niche value propositions to customers around the world. Founded in 1996, Movate was recognized for its impact on economic development. In October, Movate acquired his TSD Global, increasing its influence in the Philippines and expanding into South Africa.
Astanza Laser :: Dallas
Listed in the health products and orthodontic reentry services categories, Astanza is a leader in lasers for tattoo removal, hair removal, and other cosmetic procedures. Founded in 2010, the company offers advanced cosmetic laser technology along with a three-business day service guarantee, lifetime training and clinical support, and business and marketing strategies, Inc. writes.
Farmhouse Fresh :: McKinney
Farmhouse Fresh, recognized in the Consumer Products and Retail category, is a skincare company that does more than just offer “cruelty-free” products. A portion of the proceeds is also used to rescue and rehabilitate abused livestock. Farmhouse, founded in 2004 with the backing of Oprah Winfrey, began collaborating with “The Smurfs” in September when he helped support animal rescue efforts.
Thrust Flight :: Addison
Thrust Flight, which was honored in the education category for career development, trains “safe, confident and skilled” airline pilots in a nurturing and enriching educational space, Inc. writes. Founded in 2006, the company's Pilot His School provides a one-stop shop for flight training and helps students start a career as an airline pilot in as little as their 10 months. .
Freeman :: Dallas
Listed in the consumer services sector, this nearly 100-year-old event planning company covers all aspects of event planning and management to create exhibitions, events, and experiences. Freeman was cited as an influence on sustainability. In August, the company acquired Sparks, a global brand experience agency based in Philadelphia. The company is even older than Freeman, having been founded in 1919.
Eden Green Technology :: Cleburne
Eden Green, recognized in the Agriculture and Natural Resources category for its impact on food insecurity, uses vertical greenhouses to increase crop yields while using less water, land and energy than its competitors. It's a technology company. Founded in 2017, Eden Green recently broke ground on a $40 million expansion.
Maintenance :: Dallas
UPKEEP was ranked on the list in the Consumer Services category for its impact on at-risk youth. Founded in 2020, this full-service, female-owned medical her spa has a corporate culture centered on service, respect, and charity.
methodology
Inc. selected 215 companies to this year's list after reviewing a list of applicants eligible for this honor. Companies were required to be privately held, headquartered in the United States, and independent rather than subsidiary.
Inc.'s experienced editors then split into three teams to make the final selection. Each team will assign a letter grade to each application based on the size of the company, based on the evidence of altruistic accomplishments provided in the responses to two prompts. At Inc., we look for initiatives and results that go beyond simply contributing to our customers and our bottom line.
