Good morning, Viva El Bados!
The VEB writing team met Thursday night to record another podcast episode. This time he is joined on staff by CBS Baseball's Dayn Perry and Birdy Work Substack.
If you're not familiar with Dayn's work, you should correct yourself. His Cardinals-focused Substack is one of his best reads. This is very similar to the content you are used to from VEB. Except he can really write and actually has access to information. Although this is a subscription service, the cost is as low as possible and will hardly cut into your coffee budget. Check him out!
We covered a wide range of topics with Dayne, but first focused on the Cardinals' acquisition of Matt Carpenter. Can he provide any offense at this point in his career? Will Oli Marmol manage his workload carefully to avoid taking away PA from developing players like Alec Burleson? Is it okay to bench a player whose sole purpose is to draw walks? We take these questions and provide a variety of answers.
The crux of this episode stems from Dane's latest post on Birdieworks regarding the Bally/Diamond TV bankruptcy. He explains exactly what's going on and how it could affect the club this season and going forward.
If you want to learn more about this topic, you can read more of his thoughts here.
Thank you Dayn for your question. There was a perfect amount of questions and we were able to address all of them with different levels of discussion.
As always, VEB podcasts can be found on this site. You can also follow us through your favorite podcast outlets, including Spotify, Apple, and Google. If you can't find where you want to listen, please let us know. You can expand your feed.
You can also watch all of our past episodes archived on YouTube. So if you want to see the receipts for how many good seasons I predicted from Steven Matz, that's the place to do it. (Yes, I did it again this season.)
No matter where you listen, we would appreciate it if you could subscribe/follow, like, and rate the podcast. Our viewer/listener numbers are steadily increasing. Let's keep this going!

Thanks again to Dayn Perry for joining us. Please consider subscribing to his Substack. Well worth it.
Next time on the VEB Podcast, we'll be airing a preview episode of Spring Training, followed by the first in a series of VEB Alumni episodes. We will be inviting a former writer to the site to discuss his VEB experience and his 2024 Cardinals. Our resident historian DeebeeDub tells us that this season marks the site's 20th year. Former team members will be present throughout the season. It should be a lot of fun!
Happy Saturday, VEB. Thank you for your continued attention!
