dallas – The accused man Four people were killed in a Dallas home Sunday afternoon. He died after shooting himself in a confrontation with police near Austin.
The suspect was identified as 21-year-old Byron Carrillo. Police said the suspect was wearing a monitor on his ankle at the time of the shooting on a 2021 aggravated assault charge. Police say they cut off his ankle monitor at some point before or shortly after the shooting.
Logan de la Cruz, 1; Vanessa de la Cruz, 20 years old. Karina Lopez, 33 years old. and Jose Lopez, 50, were shot and killed in his home in the 9700 block of Royce Drive.
A 15-year-old girl was also shot and taken to a local hospital. She was later treated and released. A 13-year-old boy was in the home at the time of the shooting but was not injured.
Carrillo then left the scene, stole a car and headed south on Interstate 35. He was spotted by the Austin Area Highway Patrol and after a chase with officers, he crashed into a ditch and fled.
When officers approached Carrillo, they shot him in the head and died at the scene.
Carrillo was previously charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after threatening Jose Lopez and his then-girlfriend Vanessa Delacruz.
