Duke fans may have held their breath yesterday as the Blue Devils defeated the Clemson Tigers 72-71 in Cameron. We recap that thriller and preview the next game against Virginia Tech in episode 587.
Scott Rich joins Donald to talk about Clemson's victory, which featured two ice-cold free throws by Tyrese Proctor in the final minute. He wasn't the only one with a good performance. Jared McCain's 20 points and three big steals stole the show, and Mark Mitchell had another great game. The team's defense held Duke back and ultimately contributed to the victory.
We also talk about the struggles in this game, from rebounding to Kyle Filipovski on offense. Overall, the team didn't have an easy time offensively, but they fought through and were able to beat Cameron in an important ACC win.
After the break, Duke will play back-to-back games on Saturday and Monday for the first time this season, traveling to Blacksburg to face the Hokies on Monday night. Duke traditionally hasn't played very well at Cassell Coliseum, and Virginia Tech is one of the best teams in the ACC offensively. Donald and Scott discuss Virginia Tech's performance this season and how they can win on the road overall. very That's difficult for the top-ranked teams in all of college basketball to do this season.
