When Randy Cooper was looking for a ranch near Dallas, memories of his family’s land in Bandera kept coming back to him.
Cooper has lived most of his life in the state’s Hill Country, growing up in San Antonio, attending school in Austin before moving to North Texas to begin his career in commercial real estate.
That’s one of the reasons he chose his 288-acre ranch in the rolling countryside of Bosque County near Clifton.
“Topography-wise, it’s the closest place to hill country from Dallas,” Cooper said.
Another reason Cooper, who works for Dallas-based Stream Realty Partners’ office group, chose the property had to do with his three daughters and wife’s passion for horseback riding.
“We looked for about a year, found the ranch, and I just started building and I’ve been building ever since,” Cooper said with a laugh.
Cooper’s limestone-clad Bosque Mountain Ranch currently includes a 6,900-square-foot main house, a 4,200-square-foot pool house, a separate guest house and a barn with 3,550 square feet of living and entertaining area on the second floor.
The ranch, which runs on private well water, is located about an hour and a half from both Dallas and Fort Worth.
Cooper said his family enjoyed the property, but his children are now grown up.
“They have businesses and social lives. At the end of the day, we just don’t use it the way we used to,” he said.
Cooper and his wife plan to do more traveling. Cooper has no plans to retire and still works in the office five days a week.
Bernie Wechtritz of Icon Global, which is marketing the property, said the property also has potential for multi-family ownership, an event venue or corporate retreat.
“This is a truly rare, turnkey property that comes fully furnished, equipped with vehicles, working ranch and recreational facilities. Truly unique and truly one of a kind,” Uechtritz said in a statement.
The call for bids for Sugary Ranch closed June 3. The 1,300-acre ranch received multiple bids and is currently under contract.
South Creek Ranch, 20 minutes south of Dallas, is in the final stages of a bid solicitation campaign that ends June 28. Uechtritz expects the company to negotiate a contract in July.
