A bug in Apple Podcasts prevents subscribers from listening to the latest episodes, prevents them from being displayed, and prevents the app from automatically downloading them to users.
The Apple Podcasts app is supposed to notify you of new episodes of your favorite shows, and if you're set up to do so, you can download and save them to your iPhone or iPad for immediate listening. However, in some cases, this method may not allow your app to work completely.
The first report was 9to5 mac, many users are noticing that podcast episodes released on Friday are not properly populated in the app. The latest episode won't appear in your app's Next queue or download to your iPhone or iPad.
When viewing a show's episode list, you may see the previous episode instead of the latest for affected users and podcasts, even after refreshing the screen.
The app still has the ability to play missing episodes, but only if the user finds them using the episode title search feature. This requires the user to find the episode name through other means for the search to work.
The limited number of affected shows may be due to an issue with Apple servers, rather than an issue with the app itself. In that case, a fix by Apple may resolve the issue for all users without requiring further software updates.
