best new restaurants
This year, eight new restaurants will be recognized as the best of the year, defined as restaurants that opened between mid-October 2022 and 2023. Prices and styles range from the luxurious Mr. Charles to the filling $5 Alfonso Breakfast Burrito.
To judge Best New Restaurant, I spent about 65 meals this year visiting brand new restaurants. In 2023, you may find yourself missing some big-name, well-known names, as there were a number of new openings that led with hype but failed to deliver. we know about them. We hope you will try our selection and like it too.
Best Restaurants 50
With this update, six new restaurants have been added to the list of 50. Three of his locations are new openings in 2023, and three of his locations are well-established spots that made the list for their sheer awesomeness.
For a brief explanation of how we selected the 50 Best Restaurants and the values that drive our decisions, read this commentary published at the same time as our last update. The only thing I would like to add here is that there is a 6 month grace period for new openings to appear in the top 50. Therefore, some of the Best New Restaurants, such as Mr. Charles and Via Toliozzi, do not make the list. Still eligible. We're also looking at the newly rebranded and reimagined Georgie, which has temporarily removed Meridian until it establishes a new, less Brazilian identity.
The next update to the Best 50 list will be in early June.
