Radio broadcasting company Audacity will lay off about 25 per cent of staff in its Pineapple Street podcast division.
The 12 layoffs come as the company faced reduced marketing budgets, reduced demand for its high-cost, limited-time story series (which bore the brunt of the layoffs), as well as: It was received and carried out. “As part of our 2024 planning cycle, we continue to optimize our structure for the podcast market opportunity and prepare for continued growth. “We have made the difficult decision to reduce some of our staff at Pineapple. We are grateful for the hard work and dedication of those affected,” the company said in a statement.
Pineapple Street podcasts span three categories: Originals, Branded, and TV & Movie Podcasts. This includes show-specific podcasts such as: the last of us Podcasts and Interviews with a Vampire Podcast in partnership with HBO, AMC, Netflix, AppleTV and more. Audacy also includes popular station radio networks such as New York's 1010 Wins and podcasting studio Cadence13.
