Olajide—Founded and runs Axxess, a Dallas-based healthcare technology unicorn African Business Council—Noting that this is the first time the summit has been held in the United States since 2017 and the first time in 12 years that it has been held outside Washington, D.C.
The summit is expected to bring together more than 1,500 prominent leaders from both the public and private sectors from the U.S. and Africa. African heads of state are visiting Dallas for the event, along with international investors, U.S. and African government officials, executives from Fortune 500 companies, large and small businesses, and key players from multilateral organizations, the City of Dallas said.
“Where else can a Dallas company get the opportunity to speak to multiple presidents? [and] “How can you get to know these people?” Olajide asked the Dallas Business Journal. “Instead of having to go to 54 African countries to learn, they can come to your doorstep and give you all the information you need. This is a historic gift to our community, especially the business community, and I’m excited to see how it ripples out over the coming decades.”
What’s special, he points out, is not just the opportunity, but the international impact of where the summit will be held.
“When people think of the United States, they think of New York or Los Angeles, but what’s happening in Dallas is special, and I wanted to highlight Dallas,” Olajide told the Dallas Morning News. “This is the most thriving economy in the country, and maybe the world. There’s magic here, so I had to work with my colleagues to bring this event here.”
