A new post-acute psychiatric hospital is set to open in Dallas in early 2025.
The project will be the second private behavioral health hospital of its kind in Dallas and seeks to meet the continuing demand for behavioral health services in the area.
Prevalian, a real estate developer of health care and senior housing, is currently leading the project along Live Oak Street in the Bryan Place neighborhood.
Once complete, the space will be operated by PAM Voyages Behavorial Health, a post-acute care hospital company affiliated with PAM Health.
The seven-story building, located steps from Baylor Scott & White University Medical Center and other health care services in East Dallas, will feature 72 beds, including six 12-bed units on the top three floors, with many rooms offering views of downtown and Exall Park.
Prevarian has experience with ground-up projects and redevelopments, but the new behavioral health center is repurposing clinician space from the former Parkland Hospital.
Prevalian also previously redeveloped the medical office building next door at 3310 Live Oak Ave., where it currently has its headquarters.
Future renovations at PAM Voyages Behavioral Health Hospital Dallas will include converting the first three parking levels to accommodate hospital support space, athletic fields and multi-purpose space.
“PAM Voyages Behavioral Health Hospital is unique in that it is a multi-story behavioral health hospital located near a major city’s CBD,” said Alan Brown, partner and co-founder of Prevalian.
After patients are discharged, they can continue services at PAM Voyages’ outpatient program next door.
Dallas is also excited about the Texas Behavioral Health Center at UT Southwestern, located in the Medical District. State officials broke ground on the project about two years ago. A 200-bed adult wing is scheduled to open in late 2025, and a 96-bed pediatric wing is scheduled to open in 2026.
