DALLAS — Dallas real estate developer and television personality William “Bill” Hutchinson was charged this week with misdemeanor sexual assault in Orange County, Calif., in connection with a 2021 assault of a minor in Laguna Beach. He has pleaded guilty to the charges, the Orange County District Attorney's Office announced. Confirmed.
Hutchinson, 65, was sentenced to three years of probation and must register as a sex offender, according to court records.
He will also serve 90 days of “home detention” in Texas, which the law defines as 12 consecutive evenings spent at home while being supervised by a probation-approved provider. It is defined as
One felony count of rape and four additional counts of sexual battery against Hutchinson were also dismissed this week as part of the plea agreement, according to Hutchinson's attorney and court records.
Hutchinson previously pleaded not guilty to these other charges, according to court records.
“I am pleased to announce that the Orange County District Attorney's Office and my client, Bill Hutchinson, have reached a plea agreement in exchange for the dismissal of five very serious charges,” said Hutchinson's attorney Levi.・Mr. McCathern said in a statement. Hutchinson has faced multiple sexual assault allegations in recent years.
Mr. Hutchinson was accused of sexually assaulting a teenage girl at his Highland Park home in 2021, but Mr. Hutchinson denied these charges. A Dallas County grand jury declined to indict him on that charge in 2022.
But he still faces civil lawsuits from three Dallas County women. According to the complaint, the defendants in the case allege that Hutchinson sexually assaulted each woman at various locations in Dallas throughout 2020.
Michelle Simpson Tugel, the attorney representing the three women, said this week that her clients' cases are still ongoing and a trial is scheduled for November.
“I commend this survivor's courage in coming forward, which not only led to some measure of justice for what she went through, but also shed light on the actions of a man who is now a registered sex offender. “It also helped me guess,” he said of the California incident. “It is not easy to come forward to a public figure and claim the truth while waiting years for a court date, but the courage of this survivor shows that every voice can have a potential impact. ”
Hutchinson previously appeared on the Lifetime series “Marrying Millions,” which highlighted his relationships with women 40 years his junior.
The commercial real estate company he founded, Dunhill Partners, is known for developing the Virgin Hotels Dallas. Hutchinson resigned as CEO of the company following allegations against him.
