The death of Bray Wyatt not only robbed the world of a great man, but also many impactful creative moments that went unrealized. Wyatt had a deep bond with his biological brother Bo Dallas, who worked under the mask of Uncle Howdy, and Dallas remains with the company after Wyatt’s death.
Bo Dallas’ WWE status revealed
As Bray Wyatt faced health issues last year, WWE removed him and his brother Bo Dallas from television. There was initially hope that the two would return together once Wyatt had recovered. Sadly, these hopes were dashed when Wyatt died at the age of 36 from a heart attack in his sleep.
PW Insider Elite has confirmed that Dallas remains an employee of the company despite his inactivity: He is not currently appearing in any TV storylines, but he is still on the company’s payroll.
Bo Dallas was with WWE for 13 years before being let go in April 2021 due to budget cuts. He last appeared in the ring in November 2019. Initially, WWE cited a lack of creative planning as the reason for his absence.
However, Dallas was later found to have a broken neck and was forced to take a break from action to recover, surprising many fans with his unexpected return as Uncle Howdy in 2022.
While this has never been confirmed, inside speculation has it that Wyatt, who had just returned to WWE at the time, may have influenced Dallas’ re-hiring. Unfortunately, Howdy and Wyatt didn’t spend much time together in the ring.
Who is Bo Dallas?
Bo Dallas’ real name is Taylor Michael Rotunda. He is the son of WWE Hall of Famer Mike Rotunda, who was a wrestler under the name IRS, and the brother of Windham Rotunda, better known to everyone as Bray Wyatt. This family bond lasted until the end, and Uncle Howdy’s storyline never played out the way they had planned.
Dallas is still under contract with WWE, but it’s unclear if WWE will be reprising the Uncle Howdy character — when we asked about this rumor a few months ago when it first surfaced, we were told by multiple members of the creative team that there had been no talk of bringing back Uncle Howdy at the time.
WWE will look after Bray Wyatt’s family
WWE has been very supportive of Bray Wyatt’s family since his death. JoJo Offerman will receive 100% of the proceeds from the sale of his merchandise. The company released this statement shortly after the news of his passing broke.
Wyatt also signed a legends contract to ensure the company would continue to provide for his family for a long time to come.
Our thoughts remain with JoJo Offerman, Bray’s children and his family. He is gone, but his name will live on forever.
