If you've been living a tough life, elections are just around the corner. So it made sense to discuss the issue with Amanda Subbarao, president of the League of Women Voters of Anne Arundel County (LWVAAC).
First of all, LWVAAC is nonpartisan. These are great resources for everyone and will help you make the most informed vote possible, which is often difficult in the most important down-ballot races. We learned that LWVAAC is not just for women, anyone can join, and that its original mission was to spread knowledge about women's voting after the passage of the 19th Amendment. So men and women, please consider joining or supporting us.
We talked about race and the tools available to voters. Did you know we have a comparison tool that lets you view two options side-by-side, just like buying a TV at Best Buy? Extensive voter selection available online and in hard copy at every library and senior center in the county Did you know we have a guide? Check it out and become an informed voter!
There was one part of our discussion that really resonated with me. Voting is like riding a public transportation bus. The bus won't take you to your final destination, but it can get you one step closer. It's unlikely that a candidate will tick all your boxes, but if you can come one step closer, choose the candidate who comes closest. Become an informed voter!
Postal voting is currently underway. Early voting begins May 2nd. The first day is May 14th.
