The stars of the hit 90s sitcom Boy Meets World have announced that they are working on a new documentary.
During an appearance at '90s Con in Connecticut on Saturday, former castmates Danielle Fishel (Topanga), Rider Strong (Shawn) and Will Friedle (Eric) spoke about their current spin-off podcast, “Pod.'' He is the host of “Meets World'' and shared the news that he has appeared on the show. We brought in a film crew to follow their podcasting journey.
“At one point Ryder, who came up with the idea for the podcast, also said to us, 'Do you think we should record this and make a documentary of the experience?'” Fishel says. (42) told the audience.
Fans packed into the Connecticut Convention Center in Hartford cheered with excitement at the announcement, but Fischel made it clear that he didn't necessarily plan to open it to the public.
“[Rider] “I think there will come a time, whether it's five years from now, 10 years from now, or even 30 years from now, we'll all look back at what we're going through and wish we could relive and experience it again.” she shared. “Even if it doesn't air anywhere, it's just for us. But yeah, we're really excited about it.”
Friedl, 47, who grew up in Hartford, where this weekend's competition is being held, told the audience that she had been working on the project just the day before, filming in her childhood bedroom.
“And nothing has been touched since.” [he was] “I was 16 when I left to do 'Boy Meets World,'” Strong joked.
The popular series, which aired on ABC from 1993 to 2000, followed the growth of Cory Matthews, played by Ben Savage, from middle school to college.
On Saturday, Fishel, Strong and Friedl, who played Cory's girlfriend, best friend and older brother, respectively, were joined by “Boy Meets World” alums William Daniels (Principal Feeney) and Betsy Randle (Cory's mother) Amy) and William Russ (Cory's father) participated.
