Brittany Howard is gearing up to release a new solo album. what now. LP — her first work under her new contract with Island Records; resultThe most anticipated album of the year will be released on February 9th.
After winning well-deserved praise as the lead singer and guitarist for the acclaimed band Alabama Shakes and for her first solo album, 2019's JaimeHoward continues his musical journey What now? Early singles like “WHAT NOW,” “Red Flags,” and “Prove It to You” truly showcased her versatility as an artist.
“It seems like some themes [of the new album] We live in a world where so many crazy things are happening so fast, but we still have to live with ourselves, live with our feelings about it, live in our bodies ” says Howard. “I can't go out and solve all the problems in the world. Even if you feel like that's what you're really called to do, there's too much injustice, too much… Because you're seeing so much suffering, so much pain. As an empathetic person, it's emotionally overwhelming.”
She added: “So, I feel like this album was about me navigating my personal life, but also being very conscious of how the world sometimes feels like it's on fire. Thing.”
Brittany Howard kicks off new tour dates with a two-night performance at Chicago's Thalia Hall on February 6th and 7th.
