Another celebrity joins Chiefs Kingdom as Brittany Mahomes convinces Post Malone to wear team jacket at Kansas City's Super Bowl afterparty, leaving fans surprised by singer's switch in allegiance .
Malone, whose real name is Austin Richard Post, was in Las Vegas to perform “America the Beautiful,” one of three national anthems performed at Allegiant Stadium on Sunday.
However, he performed on stage with Marshmello and The Chainsmokers at Zouk Nightclub at Resorts World Las Vegas and linked up with the Chiefs after their 25-22 OT win over the San Francisco 49ers.
The 28-year-old hitmaker from Grapevine, Texas, just outside of Dallas, was willing to put aside his Cowboys fandom for one song. Malone's father, Rich, was the Cowboys' concession manager in the early 2000s.
However, footage from the afterparty initially showed Mahomes coming to center stage and convincing Malone to trade his Cowboys jacket for a Chiefs jacket.
It took some convincing as Malone refused to take it off. He was also shocked that Mahomes got tired and took the Cowboys jacket off his back to make things easier.
Malone then agreed to wear Kansas City red, but repeatedly gestured to Mahomes that she had no intention of wearing her quarterback husband's team jacket for more than one song.
Fans of X (formerly Twitter) and people at XS praised Malone for lightly poking fun at the situation.
“Love Post Malone!'' He was kind enough to wear a Chiefs jacket lol,'' the user wrote.
Another tweeted: “Post Malone is the coolest guy.”
'I love this! !he is one of them [Chiefs] Now it's a kingdom. I get that as a Texan, but he can wear red. LOL,” the woman said.
Some cited the Chiefs and Cowboys' shared history as a sign that Malone would be willing to wear Kansas City's red.
“To be fair, the Chiefs were in Dallas before the Cowboys existed, so it’s not that bad,” the source said.
Malone previously got the infamous Chiefs tattoo after losing a beer pong bet to Mahomes' husband, Patrick Kelce, and Travis Kelce in 2020.
