Our first guest this season will be speaking with a writer. steve cudenwhich was part of the musical and its early stages, but was eventually replaced just before the musical started to take off and become so iconic jekyll and hyde The musical we all know.
In fact, this was Steve's first foray into songwriting with Frank Wildhorn, an unknown composer and writer at the time. And in Part 1 of our conversation, Steve opened up about their personal and professional relationship in a way he hadn't previously revealed publicly.
A little behind the scenes story…Steve and I actually met last year when he contacted me via email after listening to an episode of my other podcast. closing night, focuses on the history of theater. That started a series of email exchanges that eventually led to me inviting him on this podcast to share his side of the story. This is a side of the story that Frank Wildhorn himself doesn't talk about often in interviews.
