The new month brings an onslaught of festive events, starting with a busy weekend thanks to the Kentucky Derby and Cinco de Mayo. (Dust off your derby hat.) Also, not one, but two tequila dinners, the grand opening of a chicken and biscuit restaurant, an Italian wine expo, and a trip to help a furry friend in need. Plan your taco dinner.
Wednesday, May 1st
Milagro Tequila Dinner at Tedeseo
At Te Deseo, three courses are paired with Milagro Tequila cocktails. We'll start with a cocktail reception at 6pm, and after dinner we'll stay on the rooftop for some salsa dancing and a cigar. Tickets are $75 plus tax and tip.
Insolito Tequila Dinner at Barrel & Bones
The Colony's Craft Smokehouse will host a spring-inspired three-course cocktail pairing dinner featuring Insolito Tequila. Menu highlights include strawberry, lime, jumbo shrimp and white fish ceviche, chayote and watermelon salad, and slow-roasted whole pork served with lemongrass rice and homemade tortillas. Dinner is $65 plus tax and a small service charge and starts at 7 p.m.
Friday, May 3rd
Cinco de Mayo at Punchbowl Social
Free chips and salsa? Yes, please. All Eatertainment destination locations will provide free chips and salsa to your table this weekend Friday through Sunday. This is perfect to pair with Patron Silver's special $9 margarita, which comes with a free souvenir Patron bottle glass. Also find hidden prizes inside the mini piñata. The special will take place nightly from 5pm to 9pm.

All Tex-Mex destination locations including Plano, Las Colinas, and Uptown Dallas will offer complimentary tequila tastings from the ice luge starting Friday at 5 p.m., all weekend long. There will also be a pop-up His Margarita His Bar featuring nitrogen margaritas, tableside handcrafted margaritas with custom rims and fruit infusions, and mariachis and his DJ music.
Saturday, May 4th
Rise Southern Biscuit & Righteous Chicken Grand Opening
The Durham-based biscuit and chicken concept is celebrating its grand opening at Victory Park with an opportunity to give and give back. The location will donate 10 percent of the day's sales to Friends of Dallas Animal Services. The first 200 patrons will receive a commemorative sticker, and raffles will be held throughout the day to win free food and prizes (including a year of free rises). Doors open at 7am.
Cinco de Mayo glass giveaway at Pappasito's
Need new glassware? The Tex-Mex chain is giving away a free glass to anyone who orders a shaken Reserva Margarita with Corazon Reposado Tequila and Grand Marnier on both Saturday and Sunday, while supplies last do. Enjoy our limited edition Tres Leches Cheesecake until May 5th.
7th anniversary party at Jose
Lover's Lane Mexican Restaurant, celebrating its seventh year in business, will feature live music from a cumbia band, signature dishes from the Jose food truck, and Mi Campo tequila shots for $7. The party will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Expect more live music along with a local artisan market on Sundays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
6th Annual Kentucky Derby Party at Republic Texas Tavern
Preston Hollow restaurants and bars are celebrating “The Most Exciting Two Minutes in Sports” with watch parties and small bets. Starting at 4:30 p.m., patrons can bid on racehorses and their funds will be deposited into a pool and paid out to the winners. Mint He Julep and Best Dressed Contest will also be held. The party will run from 3pm to 6:30pm, with the race set for a 5:57pm post time.
Derby Day at Ida Clare
The Southern-style Dallas restaurant is hosting a Derby Day party with a best hat contest. Grab a $7 Mint Julep while you wait for 150th Kentucky Derby start and post time is set at 5:57 p.m.
Sunday, May 5th
Cinco de Mayo at the Dallas Truckyard
Until the festival? The truck yard will feature Tex-Mex food trucks, live music, mini dog races (pre-register online), and drink specials such as a double margarita that comes with a free luchador mask (while supplies last) throughout the day. You can also try your luck at the prize-filled piñata, which is free for kids and adults alike. The party will be held from 11 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. and will also be held at the Colony Truck Yard location.
Smokin' Fiesta by Peticolas Brewing Company
Chef Gary Irvin of Rescue Market, a culinary initiative by Pet Sitters Care, a nonprofit dedicated to nourishing homeless people and their pets, creates a Cinco de Mayo theme at Peticolas Brewing Company Host a taco party. Tickets start at $15.95 for his plate of smoked tacos with “all the specialties” and $35.95 for his six-beer tasting flight with plate. Proceeds will be donated to Rescue Markets, and plates will be sold from 1 to 4 p.m.
Cinco de Mayo Celebration at Taqueria La Ventana
Mechanical bull rides, DJ music, LED robot shows, piñatas, face painting, piñatas, and of course margaritas and street tacos combine to create one of Dallas' biggest Cinco de Mayo parties. This year's event, held outdoors at Taqueria La Ventana, will also feature food and drinks from Meso Maya, El Fenix and Del Toro Barbecue. Admission is $10 and the party runs from 2 to 10 p.m.
Wine Expo 2024 Part 1
This outdoor Italian wine festival will be held at the Beehive Dallas Backyard in the Design District and will feature tastings by Italian winemakers, light refreshments, and live jazz music. Tickets start at $45 for 5:30pm admission, $60 for 4pm admission, and $90 for 3pm VIP admission. The event will run until 7 p.m.
Monday, May 6th
Borgo Turito Wine Dinner at Partenope Ristorante
Richardson Italian Restaurant will host a four-course family-style wine dinner paired with Purgia's Borgo Turito wines (sparkling, rosé, and two reds). Features include seafood salad with octopus, squid and fennel, mini calzones and fried zeppoline. Tickets are $80, plus tax and service charge, and dinner begins at 6:15 p.m.
