A Mexican frozen food maker has opened a new headquarters in an emerging mixed-use business park in Frisco that will eventually employ more than 100 people.

Lewis Foods, previously based in Dinuba, Calif., has set its sights on North Texas for the first time after naming Frisco its regional headquarters in 2022, aiming for a more central location. In late 2023, the company announced Frisco as its sole headquarters, consolidating its California and Texas headquarters facilities.
“We wanted to be located in the heart of the country to improve access to our customers and access to our facilities,” said Kimberly Carroll, president and CEO of Lewis Foods. has been reached,'' he said. “We decided North Dallas was one of the areas we wanted to consider.”
Carroll said Lewis Foods' new home will better serve its customers and its five facilities across Texas, California and South Carolina. The Frisco location also provides the company with access to talent in a number of areas deemed important, including information technology, marketing and consumer products.
In addition, the City of Frisco has agreed to pay Lewis Foods $250,000 over the next four years as part of an economic incentive that will hire 125 people locally. That equates to about $2,000 per employee, and so far the company has received $50,000, about one-fifth of the total, Carroll told the Dallas Business Journal. Approximately 90 people now work at the company's new home in Frisco.
Carroll added that the company has also started doing community volunteer work, such as Habitat for Humanity, and is contributing to local charities.
Frisco Mayor Jeff Cheney added that he believes Lewis' decision to move to Frisco is a testament to the city's “strategic advantages and opportunities.”
“With more than 125 new Frisco-based jobs, Lewis Foods' growth is contributing positively to Frisco's thriving economy,” Cheney said in a statement.
Crystal Howard, interim president and CEO of the Frisco Chamber of Commerce, said in a statement that the company's values of innovation, quality, respect and teamwork are consistent with Frisco's values. Stated.
The company also operates a packaging plant in Denison, just south of the Oklahoma state line. In late 2023, the food manufacturer opened an on-site health center for factory workers and their families.
Ruiz Foods, which bills itself as the largest manufacturer of Mexican frozen foods in the United States, is a family-owned company founded in 1964. Some of the most popular brands include El Monterey and Tornados, which make burritos, taquitos, and enchiladas. The company employs more than 4,000 people across all its facilities.
Lewis Co. isn't the only food manufacturer to relocate to North Texas in recent months. Hispanic food manufacturer Cacique Foods moved its headquarters from California to Texas last year. Other food and beverage companies based in Dallas-Fort Worth include PepsiCo's Frito-Lay and Keurig Dr. Pepper, both located in Plano.
