The Chicago Chapter of the Society of Industrial and Office Realtors (SIOR) and the SIOR Foundation recently awarded 2023 Len Caldeira Scholarships totaling $12,000 to four deserving students. Christian Krull of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Xavier Papillon of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign; and Anna Zimmerman of the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Each student received a $3,000 scholarship presented by SIOR Chicago 2023 Scholarship Committee members Sergio Chapa, SIOR of Newmark and Dennis Chaimovitz, SIOR of Payne Wetzel .
Since 1984, the SIOR Chicago Chapter has awarded approximately $215,000 in real estate scholarships to more than 100 students. This program recognizes and recognizes outstanding academic performance in business and real estate courses. In addition to education funding, recipients will also receive access to career opportunities and internship programs available within Chicago's real estate community. Professor Roger Cannaday, associate professor emeritus at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, helped create the SIOR Chicago Scholarship Award.
The mission of the SIOR Foundation is to promote and support initiatives that expand, educate, and enrich the commercial real estate community. Founded in 1962 to publish the industry's first graduate-level textbook on industrial real estate, the SIOR Foundation remains dedicated to expanding understanding of the commercial real estate industry. The foundation has a matching scholarship program available to various local chapters of his SIOR.
