Coca-Cola Southwest Beverage LLC plans to expand its Fort Worth factory, adding production lines and doubling its warehouse space.
A three-year expansion at 3400 Fossil Creek Blvd. The warehouse space will be expanded to 400,000 square feet and cost approximately $168 million, the company confirmed.
CCSWB Chairman Jean-Claude Tissot said in a statement to the Dallas Business Journal that the expansion is motivated by growth in the Dallas-Fort Worth region and across the state. Dallas-Fort Worth added more ridership than any other subway in the country from July 1, 2022 to July 1, 2023, according to the latest U.S. Census numbers. Taking into account migration and births, the number was approximately 418 per day.
The expansion will improve service to Coca-Cola Southwest Beverages customers and increase production and storage capacity, the company said.
“As North Texas continues to grow, we want to be ready to support that growth,” Tissot said. “Coca-Cola products are among the most popular brands in the state, and it's our responsibility to ensure they're in the hands of our customers now and in the future.”
Tissot said the company made a similar investment in its new $250 million north Houston factory, which began operations in 2020.
The Fort Worth plant employs approximately 900 people and 1,800 people across North Texas in other roles such as sales and distribution. Tissot said there are no plans to add employees to the expansion.
Dallas-based Coca-Cola Southwest Beverages is one of the largest bottlers of Coca-Cola products in the United States, serving Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico and parts of Arkansas. The company estimates it contributed more than $6 billion to economic activity across these states, according to the 2022 Economic Impact Study. CCSWB is owned by Mexico-based Arca Continental.
The bottler and distributor has been trying to raise its profile in North Texas for the past three years with a strategy that incorporates Super Bowl advertising. This year's commercials showcased the benefits the company brings to local communities as a major employer and supporter of nonprofit organizations, recycling and sustainability initiatives.
