The songwriter legend compares the band's new material to their classic work from the '80s and '90s and explains how they maintained that dreamlike quality in their latest set. But the goal, especially with this new album, is to have more direct lyrics, and to that end Finn is collaborating with his sons Liam and Elroy, as well as his older brother (former bandmate) Tim Finn. The first single, 'Oh Hi', is associated with So They Can, a charity focused on helping build schools in countries such as Kenya and Tanzania. “The song existed before that connection in a demo-like way, but it was pretty vague. I was looking for a lyrical thread,” Finn says. “I started talking to a woman who runs an organization called So They Can that I’ve supported for years… She said, ‘Would you write a song for these kids? ’ And this song speaks for itself and I thought it was perfect.”
