In February, the Cowboys QB's attorney allegedly sent a letter from the woman's legal team demanding $100 million, alleging that he sexually assaulted her in 2017.
Collin County, Texas — Editor's note: The video published above is from an April WFAA report in which the woman who accused Dak Prescott of sexual assault dropped her case in Dallas County and moved it to Collin County.
Dallas Police Department will not pursue criminal charges against Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott, who is accused of sexual assault by a woman, sources confirm to WFAA.
Officials told WFAA that the agency found no evidence to support the woman's claims, and the district attorney's office said there was no case.
The alleged victim and his attorney also filed a motion this week asking to dismiss the counterclaim against Prescott. In the lawsuit, the quarterback accuses his accuser and his attorney of extortion.
The accuser's attorney, Yoel Zehaie, told WFAA in an email that the 47-page motion to dismiss was filed on Monday. [Prescott’s filing] “The purpose was to silence victims of sexual assault,” it said, “violating Texas' anti-slap law, which prohibits various forms of retaliation lawsuits.”
Prescott's attorney, Levi McCathern, released the following statement to WFAA in response to the allegations:
“Defendants' motion to dismiss is complete nonsense. They once again distort the relevant facts and misunderstand the applicable law. I will try to make it clear and simple. [the victim] and her attorneys Yoel Zehaie and Bethel Zehaie extorted $100 million from Dak Prescott based on fabricated allegations that were far from the truth. And now that Dallas County has duly concluded its investigation into Defendants' false allegations regarding Mr. Prescott, we intend to immediately file a complaint of malicious prosecution against Defendants.
McCathan's statement Thursday reiterated that Prescott denied the allegations in a statement to WFAA when Prescott's accusers filed a new lawsuit against the Cowboys quarterback in Collin County, and the issue It was a repeat of the same sentiments from before.
“I would like to thank the Dallas Police Department and the Dallas County District Attorney's Office for thoroughly investigating the charges against Dak Prescott. We knew they would do so, but they did extensive fact-finding to ensure that no criminal charges were filed.” We have found nothing to support this. We are confident that a law enforcement investigation into the racketeering case will find Duck as innocent as the accuser and his attorney. As I've said from the beginning, Dak is a great football player and an even better player. He would never have assaulted a woman. It's to line the lawyers' pockets and it's an insult to all true survivors of sexual assault.”
Last February, Prescott's legal team allegedly received a letter from a woman alleging that she had been sexually assaulted in February 2017. According to court filings, the woman demanded $100 million in exchange for not calling police.
Prescott's team then filed a civil counterclaim and criminal report in March, when his attorney denied the charges and claimed the Cowboys QB was the victim of an “extortion conspiracy.”
Following Prescott's counterclaim, the woman's attorney sent a statement to WFAA further strengthening the accusations. WFAA interviewed all of the accusers and attorneys involved in the case in March. All of these conversations can be viewed here.
