Welcome to the 2024 edition of the Dallas 500. Features North Texas' most powerful and influential business leaders. This is our 9th book and it just keeps getting better. In addition to introducing you to lesser-known executives, our mission is to tell you things you didn't know about some of the most famous companies in business and show you the human side of them. You can read about their career paths in their company bios, but a surprising number of the Dallas 500 people also share the foods these leaders hate (liver, beets, fruitcake, Brussels sprouts, black licorice) and their most embarrassing moments (a surprising number of Dallas 500 (Tetra Pak's Seth Tepley accidentally set his neighbor's boat on fire, and Newmark's Ran Holman somehow sank his car into Lake Travis on Memorial Day.) . It's also about prized possessions (for Celanese's Lori Reicherk, it's the Dutch hymns her great-grandmother brought to the United States) and guilty pleasures (Neiman Marcus' Ryan Ross isn't the only one who loves romantic comedies. (I admit to being a Hallmark holiday movie fan).
One of my favorite new questions this year is, “What’s your go-to song for karaoke?” At Dallas 500's karaoke night, Mark Cuban sang “Why Can't We Be Friends” by the funk band War, Ron Kirk sang “Ain't Too Proud to Beg” by The Temptations, SMU's Maria Dixon sings Pat Benatar. Heartbreaker,” DART's Nadine Lee sings Madonna's “Material Girl,” Swifty's Sam Romano sings Taylor Swift's “Picture to Burn,” and Megha and Nirav Tolia sing “Grease.” ” performed “You’re the One that I Want”. (“And we have actions to match,” says Megha.)
These pages also feature great restaurant, travel, podcast, and book recommendations, and give you insightful business strategies along the way. Reading the 2024 Dallas 500 will make you feel proud to live in such a vibrant market and among such innovative, engaging and fun leaders.
