Dallas-based CounterFind, a provider of online brand protection software for sports, music and entertainment, has signed an agreement with MLB Players, Inc., a division of the Major League Baseball Players Association.
Under the agreement, CounterFind will help MLB players combat the proliferation of counterfeit and infringing products online. CounterFind said the partnership reflects both organizations' commitment to “protecting the intellectual property rights and commercial interests of MLB players and elevating the sports industry's online brand protection standards.”
Dealing with a market “infiltrated by counterfeit products”
“We felt an obligation to combat the challenges that unlicensed products pose to our business partners.” Evan Kaplansaid the managing director of MLB Players, Inc. in a statement. “It is imperative that we protect and enhance the value of MLB Players, Inc., our intellectual property, and our players.”
“CounterFind's software solutions and personal support are clearly suited to protect players and clean up a market that has been infiltrated by counterfeits for far too long,” Kaplan added.
To that end, CounterFind says its proprietary technology comprehensively scans major global online marketplaces and retail sites to identify name, image and likeness violations for all Major League Baseball players. .
The platform aggregates these infringements, automates the removal process across markets in real time, and protects the value of MLB Players, Inc.'s intellectual property by targeting sellers attempting to sell unlicensed products. He added that he would actively protect them.
