DALLAS — The Dallas City Council will vote Wednesday on whether to approve funding for a women's professional soccer team to call Cotton Bowl Stadium home, a memo obtained by WFAA showed.

According to the memo, the team plans to play up to 19 games in the Cotton Bowl in its first year. The USL Super League has announced plans to begin in late summer 2024 with teams in 13 cities.
The City Council is scheduled to vote at Wednesday's meeting on providing the team with up to $296,000 in annual grants for two years. According to the memo, the funds will be used to cover security, venue preparation and other costs associated with hosting games at the stadium.
The move comes as the Cotton Bowl undergoes $140 million worth of renovations. According to the memo, the game will be held on the opposite side of the stadium where construction work is taking place, and that schedule should not be affected.
The team said on its website that the Dallas organization is led by the Neal family.
“The Neal family has over 40 years of experience in real estate investment banking, current and former U.S. Soccer/U.S. Deaf Soccer and professional baseball players, sports technology entrepreneurship, advertising representation, and support for youth sports in North Texas. “I've spent decades on this,” he said.
The potential addition of a USL team to Dallas comes two weeks after the City Council approved the relocation of the Dallas Wings WNBA team to downtown Dallas Memorial Auditorium.
