The Cowboys season is over and it's time to go back and reflect on the good things.
Measures of success in professional sports vary from organization to organization. It always seems like Super Bowl or bust for the Dallas Cowboys. That was certainly the case in 2023, and another early exit from the playoffs was even more disappointing. Finishing the regular season with a 12-5 record could probably be considered a success despite leaving so early.
It's often much easier to dwell on the bad than focus on the good, but being a Debbie Downer is a bad way to spend your life. Focusing more on the positive rather than the negative can be a little more difficult, but it's definitely more rewarding. As far as the Cowboys are concerned, there will be far more positives than negatives in 2023, and we should all be thankful for that.
With that in mind, let's give some awards to the Dallas Cowboys.
MVP – Dak Prescott

2023 was one of the best of Dak Prescott's entire career. That's why he was not only talked about as the Dallas Cowboys' MVP, but also this year's league MVP. Whether that becomes a reality remains to be seen, but there's no denying that Prescott was hired this season and helped lead the team back to the playoffs. Unfortunately, his success in the regular season was wasted in the eyes of many after he and his teammates were humiliated by the Green Bay Packers in the wild card round. But despite all that, there's no denying that No. 4 was Dallas' most valuable player this year.
Offensive Player of the Year – CeeDee Lamb

CeeDee Lamb's slow start may have cast doubt on his status as the NFL's No. 1 wide receiver, but the way his season ended pissed off all those doubters. . He set career highs in nearly every category this season, and his 135 receptions and 1,749 receiving yards were more than any other player to wear the No. 88 jersey in Dallas. He has now established himself as one of the best players at his position in the entire NFL, and will likely be compensated for that with his contract extension at some point during the offseason. .
Defensive Player of the Year – Micah Parsons

Despite being double-teamed and often triple-teamed, Micah Parsons once again proved in 2023 that he is arguably one of the best, if not the best, pass rushers in the entire league. He finished the season with a career-high 14 points. The QB got sacked and gave opposing offensive linemen and defensive coordinators nightmares around the league. If he was able to draw the holding penalty he so rightfully deserves, I don't see how much that would improve his productivity or stats. Despite this, he is probably the most destructive defensive player in the NFL, and all of his teammates benefit from that.
Rookie of the Year – Brandon Aubrey

Sadly, the Dallas Cowboys didn't get much out of their 2023 rookie class. The only real bright spot in this year's rookie class was kicker Brandon Aubrey, who came out of nowhere. The 28-year-old rookie ended up having a near-perfect season, breaking records along the way. He finished the year 36 of 38 in field goal attempts and 49 and 52 in extra point attempts. Not bad for a former football player who had little kicking experience before joining the Cowboys this year. His consistency and reliability in his first year in the league has been one of the best at his position, and he is expected to continue to progress that way going forward.
Most Improved Player – Jake Ferguson

Who is Dalton Schultz? All of the worries last offseason about how the Dallas Cowboys would replace his production on offense were for naught. Jake Ferguson came almost out of nowhere and not only made a career of his own, but established himself as the league's best tight end in 2023. He was invaluable to the Cowboys' offense as an in-line blocker and a reliable receiving threat in games. Dak Prescott's passing game. The second-year tight end has probably been one of the most consistent players on the entire team all season, and his active play this year has turned him into a fan favorite.
Coach of the Year – Al Harris

Al Harris is a former cornerback himself, so he knows a thing or two about playing the position in the NFL, and he passed that knowledge on to his players during his time as the defensive backs coach for the Dallas Cowboys. I'm here. 2023 may have been a test for him as a coach, losing star protege Trevon Diggs to a season-ending knee injury, but he met the challenge head-on and exceeded his expectations. . Amazingly, he moved Daron Brand outside to replace the 2021 INT leader, who ended up leading the league in INTs, setting an NFL record with six pick-sixes, and being named an All-Pro. Ta. Show men some love!
