Cowboys team with Texas Blood Center to help patients in need of blood transfusions
DALLAS – FORT WORTH (February 12, 2024) – Carter BloodCare and the Dallas Cowboys are teaming up in a winning play to help patients in dire need of blood.
The partnership launched in April of this year and supports Carter Bloodcare's mission to enable blood transfusions and save lives.
The goal is to motivate new and past blood donors to continue donating blood through player appearances, Cowboys merchandise giveaways, and a summer blood drive hosted by the Cowboys at AT&T Stadium.
“We are excited and grateful to have the Dallas Cowboys as a strong partner in this life-saving and life-changing team-up,” said Veronica, vice president of marketing and operational support for Carter Bloodcare. Moore said. “Importantly, the Cowboys organization understands the often critical need for blood donors to maintain the health and well-being of our community.”
“This is a truly impactful partnership and we are thrilled to be able to make a difference that saves lives in our community,” said Chad Estis, executive vice president of business operations for the Dallas Cowboys. “I will.” “We believe that Cowboys Nation will come and do their part and donate blood with us, not just during the season, but all year round.”
Moore noted that the need for blood is constant. Blood is used in accident and severe trauma patients, children with blood disorders, people undergoing cancer treatment, mothers having difficult births, people undergoing open heart surgery or organ transplants, and people with age-related health problems. It is necessary for many people, including the elderly.
Blood donation can be done every 56 days. Blood donors must be in good health, at least 16 years old, weigh at least 110 pounds, and in good physical condition on the day of the donation. If you are 16 years old, a signed parental consent form is required. Anyone over the age of 17 can donate voluntarily. There is no upper age limit.
Currently, all blood types are required, but type O negative is often important, and we have less than a full day's worth of blood types on hand. As a universal blood type, O negative can be used to treat any patient, regardless of their individual blood type. Negative is also the only blood type used to treat premature infants and fetuses.
