CeeDee Lamb cleared the air on some of the buzz that started right after the Cowboys' playoff loss.
The Super Bowl will be held on Sunday, but the Dallas Cowboys will not be playing. That's life in the 21st century. By now, most of us are at peace (if you want to call it that) with the way the season ends. It may not be true for you, but we've all moved on in at least some capacity.
This seems to be the case with the Dallas Cowboys themselves, with some players talking about their first season-ending beatdown against the Green Bay Packers on Radio Row at the Super Bowl in Las Vegas. In perhaps the most Dallas Cowboys-like moment of all time, CeeDee Lamb addressed the controversial storyline surrounding him during an appearance on teammate Micah Parsons' podcast.
In case you don't know how we got here, after the Cowboys' loss to the Packers, CeeDee Lamb's mother took to Facebook to specifically slam Dak Prescott. That's what I did.
Lam's mother's “no duck” comment clearly sent the internet into a bit of a tizzy, and Friday night was the first time Lam spoke publicly about it.
CeeDee Lamb: “Thank you, Cowboys Nation, first and foremost. I love each and every one of you. Even if you guys talk like crazy sometimes. It's okay. That comes with the territory. . Thank you. Okay, I know what my mom said, get the elephant out of the room. You feel what I'm saying. Let's get the elephant out of the room.”
Micah Parsons: “Oh! I got some tea!”
CeeDee Lamb: “No, I don't have a conscience. No, I haven't talked to my mom about any of this. I don't talk to her about sports or personal problems. She's just my mom. She knows that unfortunately if we lose, her son will come home angry. She had the opportunity to express her opinion on Facebook. We know. Once again, this I'm going to repeat. No, it has nothing to do with the quarterback. I love my dog. He knows that. That being said, we… I’m like, let’s go, let’s go score some more touchdowns.”
Stories like this will likely die in the offseason once the Super Bowl is over, but it's no wonder Lamb had to deal with it. Notice that he mentions making millions more at the end of his quote. And it's worth recognizing that he's currently heading into the final year of his contract with the Cowboys. He's coming off the best statistical season in franchise history by a wide receiver, and it stands to reason that he'll be making a significant amount of money in the near future.
As you may have heard, Micah Parsons' problematic podcast host himself has finally qualified for a long-term extension. Oh, and Dak Prescott, the man at the center of the Lamb's mom comments, is definitely going to get it himself.
It's never boring around here.
