It's officially been a week since Dan Quinn left his job as the defensive coordinator of the Dallas Cowboys to become the head coach of the Washington Commanders, and in that time several things have happened regarding the Dallas coaching staff. The Cowboys have yet to specifically fill Quinn's void at the coordinator position, but one candidate who could do so was poached by Washington. Joe Witt Jr. followed Quinn to Washington, and there was speculation that perhaps others would do the same.
On Wednesday, it was reported that Washington wanted to meet with Cowboys tight ends coach Lunda Wells about the offensive line position, but Dallas blocked that request. There was another similar report Thursday morning as Quinn wanted to interview defensive backs coach Al Harris. Dallas also blocked this, but allowed Washington to meet with Sharif Floyd and Pete Onegian.
Al Harris has been a big part of the surge in great play from the Cowboys' secondary players, and Trevon Diggs even insisted on making him the team's defensive coordinator immediately after Quinn left. Considering Mike McCarthy coached Al Harris when he was a player, it makes sense that he would want to keep him around and continue to benefit from his growth as a coach.
