The Dallas Cowboys are doing their job, and their job is the 2024 offseason, not the rest of the NFL playoffs. They had already made a big decision and that was to keep Mike McCarthy for another year. They even made the decision to continue with a lame duck season instead of extending McCarthy's contract.
Another choice they made was to keep Dan Quinn as defensive coordinator. The decision drew skepticism from a devastated fan base, but the Cowboys may not have the final say anyway.
Our own Dan Rogers has been digging deeper into Quinn and has published the first two parts.
Quinn has interviewed for head coaching jobs before, but always returned to Dallas. If he gets the head coaching position this season, it looks like he's going to do it. He already has second interviews scheduled with three different teams.
He is awaiting a second interview with the Seattle Seahawks, which seems like the most likely path given his history with the organization.
He is also competing for the Tennessee Titans' position vacated by the firing of Mike Vrabel.
Then there are the Washington Commanders. If Quinn ends up there, he'll see them twice a year. The Commanders' defense is in tatters and they still need a reliable quarterback for the future. This must be a tough job for Quinn.
