Things changed for the Dallas Cowboys on Thursday when it was announced that defensive coordinator Dan Quinn would be leaving the team to become the next head coach of the Washington Commanders.
Quinn served as the Cowboys' DC for three seasons and had incredible results for most of those seasons. There were some issues in the second half of his final season in Dallas, and questions were starting to arise as to what was going on.
The Cowboys need a new defensive coordinator with Quinn's departure, and interviews will apparently take place within the next few days. - Over the weekend, before Quinn officially left, it was reported that former Commanders head coach Ron Rivera could be a candidate for the position if it became available (and it turned out to be the case).
- Shortly after Quinn's departure, cornerback Trevon Diggs endorsed defensive backs coach Al Harris for the DC position.
- Various reports have surfaced that Joe Witt Jr., an internal candidate to be promoted to the position Quinn leaves, is planning to follow Quinn to Washington.
