history:
JC Latham was destined for success after graduating from IMG Academy. He earned a five-star recruit rating upon entering college and was one of the five highest-rated players on 247Sports in 2021, making him the highest-rated offensive lineman of the year. .
In 2021, Latham appeared in nine games and recorded 142 offensive snaps, all at right guard. He allowed just two pressures and zero sacks on the year.
Latham, a second-year player, started all 13 games for Alabama. He played all 874 snaps at right tackle and 90 snaps on special teams. In 517 pass-blocking snaps, Latham allowed 12 pressures and 0 sacks, but led the team that year in penalties and had 11 flags called against him.
In his junior season, Latham again started all 14 games at right tackle. In his 443 pass-blocking snaps, he allowed nine pressures and two sacks. He once again led the team in penalties, this time with seven penalties. His run blocking improved significantly in his final year, making him one of the best run blockers on the team.

Good things:
- Big guy with the typical build and arm length to succeed at the next level.
- He has a strong leg drive and uses a good combination of power and weight to eliminate defenders.
- He is very aggressive in run blocking and has high athleticism.
- You understand how to use your opponent's momentum to counter them.
- Forces edge defenders into a full arc with clean footwork and wide kick slides in pass protection.
- During play, the feet remain active at all times.
- Shows good agility in tackling for his size and has an above-average ability to mirror defenders.

- His biggest problem is the flag. He is one of the most penalized offensive linemen in this year's draft class.
- Many of his penalties come from jumping on defenders trying to recover when they lose leverage.
- You can easily get pushed back by the bull rusher.
- Sometimes he second guesses when to initiate contact, allowing the defender to move freely.
- Sometimes they drop their heads or grow too long. Given his size, this leads to a complete block miss.
Fit:
For Latham, the positive plays far outweigh the bad plays. It's not easy to be a starter on the offensive line in the SEC, but Latham has proven time and time again that he's not only qualified, but a force to be reckoned with. He's certainly not an athletic type of offensive tackle, so he needs more coaching on how to maintain blocks and use leverage to win consistently. But the tape shows a big man who knows how to effectively move out of the way of pass rushers. He is arguably the best right tackle in this year's draft and has great potential.
