During the fourth round, the 49ers selected a new safety with the pick they acquired from the Cowboys in the Trey Lance trade.
Cowboys fans also watched as many running back options went off the board.
After hours of waiting, the Dallas Cowboys are finally playing!!
The Dallas Cowboys selected Kaylen Carson with the 174th pick in the NFL Draft!
While there's no pressing need on the depth front (Diggs, Brand, Lewis), cornerback is an area where the Cowboys need more depth. The first day three pick, fifth round, 174th overall, is Wake Forest CB Kaelen Carson.

Oh man, this is a sneaky pick.
And Kaylen Carson is a DMV kid.

The two best players left, IMO, were Caelen Carson and DJ James. Carson was a big time stealer. The Cowboys continue to prioritize value in this draft.

Let's take a closer look at Dallas' newest CB.
Kaylon Carson -> Cowboys
– Played Wake Forest slots and OCB
– He was well-coached, solid in man coverage and zone coverage, and often shadowed the opponent's best WR.
– He has the potential to be a solid NFL starter

The Cowboys selected former Missouri State University wide receiver Ryan Flournoy in the sixth round, 216th overall. Among wide receivers, Flournoy recorded the fastest his GPS time during position drills at his combine in 2024. Which WR will accomplish that in 2023? Puka Nakua.

Cowboys rookie wide receiver Ryan Flournoy said he was drafted in the sixth round and said, “I've been waiting to hear that.'' He has visited less than 30 times with the team. “Their selection of me is the best decision they've ever made, because they're getting a hard-working worker.”

The Cowboys just took Louisiana OL Nathan Thomas in the seventh round.

Let's take a closer look at the evaluation of the 223rd pick.
Nathan Thomas said he didn't talk to the Cowboys until Pro Day, but he visited them afterward. He thought he would have been drafted sooner, but “now he's going to have a bigger chip on his shoulder to prove where he belongs.”
— Todd Archer (@toddarcher) April 27, 2024
Cowboys rookie OL Nathan Thomas will play guard in Dallas. The seventh-round pick has never played live there. I believe he can make the transition. “Will I have a hard time with that? No, I don't think so.”

And with the 244th and final pick of the 2024 NFL Draft, the Dallas Cowboys added a big body to the interior of their defensive line by selecting Justin Rodgers.

Plays with good leverage, has strong hands and is difficult to get off the ball @1053thefan

Justin Rodgers is my DL25
A nose tackle that fills the space between the two. It's tough at POA. Perform the stuffing.
Play upright. The pass rush doesn't add much. It's a bit lazy and the motor gets cold on the third down.#Cowboys#Haram analysis

The Cowboys were determined to get stronger. I think that has been accomplished, but we'll see.

Some people think I'm too positive and optimistic about the Cowboys. I don't see it that way. If you see it, say something negative.
That being said, I give this draft crop a B+
