Wednesday started off with a big move for the Texas-based NFL team. In case you missed it, the Houston Texans made a trade for Stefon Diggs.
The Dallas Cowboys will face the Texans in 2024. So we should finally see Trevon Diggs and his younger brother play against each other for the first time last year, when Trevon Diggs was injured early in the season and missed that opportunity.
But speaking of the Cowboys, some unique roster news has surfaced in the aftermath of the Diggs trade. ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reported that Dallas is expected to bring back offensive lineman Chuma Edoga. Todd Archer said last year the team liked him more as a tackle than a guard. Nick Harris of the mother ship added shortly afterwards that Edga had agreed to the terms of her return.
According to a person familiar with the contract, the Cowboys have re-signed T/G Chuma Edoga to a one-year contract. The team has been keeping an eye on Edga for years, and he started at multiple positions in 2023. He returns to Dallas on a veteran salary package that includes a significant amount of guarantees.

The Dallas Cowboys and OL Chuuma Edoga have agreed to a one-year contract, the team confirmed.
Edga returned to Dallas after starting six games last season as an injured substitute.

As Archer mentioned, the Cowboys now have a verifiable swing tackle option in the fold. Matt Waletzko would theoretically be in there as well, but Edga's presence would help cover a big hole.
The Cowboys quietly entered free agency, leading to a lot of discussion and analysis, but this is objectively a solid move. Regardless of what happens in the upcoming draft, it will help bottom out important positions on the roster. Dallas may keep Tyler Smith inside at left tackle or push him out to form his left guard. Either way, they were given the swing tackle option.
