The 2024 NFL Draft is still several months away. But thanks to the Pro Football Network Mock Draft Simulator, we can find out what you (the fans) are predicting for your favorite team.
The Dallas Cowboys are always on guard and we know their fans have an opinion. There are two position groups that stand out.
Many Cowboys fans want linebacker
None of the three players listed below are Dallas' top overall picks in the Mock Draft Simulator (MDS), but the linebacker position appears to be popular with the Cowboys.
Three of the top six most popular players among Cowboys-specific users are linebackers. Clemson's Jeremiah Trotter Jr., North Carolina State's Peyton Wilson and Texas A&M's Edgerrin Cooper all ranked among the Cowboys' top six most popular players selected in the MDS.
The 2024 linebacker class doesn't have a clear No. 1 player, but Trotter, Wilson and Cooper could all fall behind in the first round. Given Dallas' struggles in the running game, it stands to reason that the Cowboys could prioritize the position in the 2024 NFL Draft.
Wilson was one of the most athletic linebackers drafted and one of the best collegiate players. Trotter Jr. has always been a run stopper, but he emerged as a pass rusher in 2023, pushing him up draft boards. Cooper has good instincts and is explosive off the line and uses those traits as both a pass rusher and run stopper.
Those players could sneak in in the first round, but one is likely available at No. 56 overall, where the Cowboys draft in the second round.
Jackson Powers Johnson, popular first-round pick
Jackson Powers-Johnson, a young center prospect out of Oregon State, skyrocketed up draft boards after stymieing a defensive lineman at the Senior Bowl.
Powers-Johnson appears to be a mid-first-round topic for teams like the Jaguars at No. 17 overall and the Eagles at No. 22.
Cowboys fans clearly want a lock at the center position, and Powers-Johnson is the most popular draft choice in the Cowboys-specific draft. If he drops to No. 24, the Cowboys could upgrade the interior of their offensive line with a player who could be a Pro Bowl starter for years to come.
Amarius Mims selects another offensive line option in the first round
Georgia offensive tackle Amarius Mims is also a popular name among Cowboys-specific drafts in MDS. He didn't see the field often at Georgia, but when he was healthy and on the field, he was one of the best players in the country regardless of position.
If the Cowboys decide to prioritize the tackle position, he's a player who could serve as a rookie starter at right tackle, protect Dak Prescott and move defenders around in the running game.
Tuvondre Sweat could fix the run defense.
Looking at these selections, it's clear that Cowboys fans want to see the team work on its run defense after watching Aaron Jones rush for 118 yards and three touchdowns in the playoffs. is.
Introducing Texas giant Tyvondre Sweat. The 340-pound Runstuff got a bit of a buzz in the first round, but could fall all the way to the bottom in the second round. Many Cowboys fans jumped at No. 56 in MDS.

Sweat shined as a pass rusher, but there's no question he can make money as a high-level run defender in the NFL. Whether it's the first or second round, Cowboys fans are determined not to see the team repeat its problems stopping runs and want more width on the defensive line. It seems so.
