Pollard and Henry will be free agents next month, but the Dallas story holds true. Henry had one year left on his contract with the Titans, so last year was meaningless. After Elliott left without producing, the Cowboys were locked in with Pollard taking over the duties. If Dallas signs Henry, he could address the red zone issues they've had all season.
Television analyst Marcus Spears explains and thinks Henry's addition should be the Cowboys' No. 1 addition this offseason. A big, physical back would pique Jones' interest in exploring the situation. He lacks size compared to Pollard, while Henry has both. Henry has the size and physicality to run away from defenders.
However, the only thing is Henry's age, which goes against the organization's belief in having an aging running back. Some might say his production has declined given his age, but that's not the case. Henry has rushed for 1,168 yards and 12 touchdowns this year and ran for over 100 yards in his last game. Henry still has eclipsed 100 rushing yards four times, with totals of 80, 97 and 88.
He also scored multiple rushing touchdowns in three consecutive games. So age shouldn't be an issue for the Cowboys when it comes to finding their next star running back. It's up to Dallas whether they enter free agency with a new philosophy.
So what do the Cowboys do about Pollard?
Since he is a pending free agent, the Cowboys could sign him with any team they want. He did the same thing last year with Elliott, but this time Dallas needs to find a replacement. Compared to Henry, Pollard went eight games or four straight games in which he didn't rush for a touchdown. It might make sense for Dallas to evaluate the situation and keep an eye on making a compelling deal for Henry.
The only problem is the finances, which could excite Jones. However, Henry has been involved in multiple reports over the past few seasons. This year could be the year that Cowboys fans and buzz fans finally make the move they've probably been waiting for.
